Membership Hints & Ideas

Where can you find new members? Here are a few hints and ideas.

Please begin ...

... by turning in the memberships you already have.
Don't wait until the deadline. Do it today!!

And please make sure that all the people you are
asking to be on next year's board are members!

If they're not, please ask them to join today!

Have you invited ...

  • families who've come into your school since the Fall membership drive?
  • grandparents?
  • teachers?  How about coaches, counselors, principals, and other school staff members?
  • your District Superintendent, and other people at the District Office?
  • friends who don't have kids in the schools?
  • your neighbors?
  • out-of-town relatives (with or without school-age children, and inside or outside California)?
  • (for elementary schools) preschool parents, & parents you meet at the park or playground?
  • (for high schools) alumni, & alumni parents?
  • (for PTSAs) students? (and have you invited them to be involved in Unit leadership?)
  • business owners (especially those who already donate to your PTA)?
  • local officials and community leaders?
  • anyone who cares about kids in California (they don't have to live here themselves!)?

Why Should They Join PTA?

Because PTA's only constituency is the children.  All of us in PTA are advocating for all children and families, and when they become members, their membership increases the power of our voice.
Please let everyone know that when they join PTA at your Unit, they are also joining the Council, District, State, and National PTA -- and they're becoming part of a child advocacy organization that's a million strong in California and seven million strong across the US.

And please remember ...

Membership isn't just a job for your membership chair.
Please ask everyone -- especially your Exec Board members -- to help!

THANK YOU!!!
